GENERA FESTIVAL APRE IL CICLO DI SERATE LETTERARIE CON GRAZIELLA MONNI STORIA, INTRIGHI E PASSIONE IL FILONE DI UN ROMANZO STORICO CHE RACCONTA LA SARDEGNA DEL 1535-1541
IL 16 LUGLIO GRANDE ATTESA PER GIANMARIA VOLPATO
Si apre con l’avventura, gli intrighi e la storia l’edizione 2024 del Genera Festival. Da Alghero, con i suoi colori caldi e ammalianti del tramonto, il Festival entra nel vivo con protagonisti e grandi penne che hanno già incuriosito la critica e il pubblico. E’ la scrittrice Graziella Monni a inaugurare il ciclo di appuntamenti letterari, accomunati da un filo conduttore indistruttibile: il coraggio, l’avventura, la generatività. Dai Bastioni Magellano del porto di Alghero, il tuffo nel passato a Caller è velocissimo: l’antica Cagliari del 1535 è la location ideale per raccontare avventure battaglie e intrighi. Lo fa con estrema naturalezza la Monni, dirigente scolastica, professoressa e scrittrice nuorese, che ci traghetta proprio li, nella terra del sole, con un romanzo avvincente, pieno di pathos e colpi di scena. Accompagnata dalla presentazione di Elias Vacca, la Monni ricostruisce le tappe di questo viaggio, frutto di un lavoro costante, incalzante, dove vicende fantastiche hanno radici nella storia. Uno strano rapimento è l’origine del viaggio che parte da Cagliari e approda ad Algeri. Ma all’arrivo, ai protagonisti accade qualcosa di sorprendente. In questo romanzo ricco e appassionante, che mette in scena battaglie e intrighi, avventure per mare e trame di corte, Graziella Monni racconta l’incontro e lo scontro tra due mondi e due religioni. Jacopo e Violante,i protagonisti, come Romeo e Giulietta, con la loro storia d’amore sono al centro di un affresco memorabile, in un corrusco Cinquecento sardo. E la lettura scorre veloce, galoppante, come le onde del mediterraneo culla di civiltà e di vicende roccambolesche. La stessa passione è ben visibile nelle parole della Monni che non vuole lasciare ai lettori un saggio bensi un romanzo che si snoda da Caller a Nuralba, da Alghero a Posada, dove si costruisce un pezzo di storia della nostra isola. Come ha sottolineato poi lo stesso Elias Vacca, ci vuole tanto studio per poter dare forma ad un romanzo storico di questo genere. “Studiare e farsi tante domande” ha ribadito la Monnni, per entrare nel vissuto dei nostri padri e conoscere le sfide, le dinamiche territoriali, le storie dentro le storie. Ricordiamo che la Monni è stata finalista alla XIII edizione del Premio Calvino con un romanzo rimasto inedito.
Il secondo protagonista del Genera Festival è GianMaria Volpato, cantautore giovanissimo, giunto secondo all’edizione di Xfactor del 2022, vincitore di Sanremo Giovani 2023 e con diverse hit molto amate dai ragazzi. Ha scritto un libro interessante “Stagno”, Mondadori editore, dove racconta la storia davvero originale di un ragazzo di 17 anni. Avremo modo di dialogare con l’autore e di scoprire che cosa significa essere estranei, alieni di una realtà spesso immobile e immutevole . E’ un romanzo ruvido, sporco, tagliente, ricco di lucida e snervante ironia. E’ la storia di Italo, un racconto forte, sensibile, graffiante. E’ un libro uscito il 28 maggio di quest’anno ma che ha già trovato grande interesse da parte della critica nazionale. Per essere una prima uscita e per essere il frutto di una mente cosi giovane, non sarebbe azzardato chiamarlo talento. L’appuntamento con Gianmaria Volpato è ad Alghero martedì 16 luglio alle 21 00 a Villa Mosca, mentre il giorno seguente, mercoledì 17 l’autore sarà a Ittiri in Piazza del comune alle 19 00. The 2024 edition of the Genera Festival opens with adventure, intrigue and history. From Alghero, with its warm and bewitching colors of the sunset, the Festival gets into full swing with protagonists and great pens that have already intrigued critics and audiences. It is writer Graziella Monni who inaugurates the cycle of literary events, united by an indestructible common thread: courage, adventure, generativity. From the Magellan Bastions of the port of Alghero, the plunge into the past in Caller is very fast: the ancient Cagliari of 1535 is the ideal location to tell of adventures battles and intrigues. Monni, a school principal, professor and writer from Nuoro, does so very naturally, ferrying us right there, to the land of the sun, with a gripping novel full of pathos and twists and turns. Accompanied by Elias Vacca’s introduction, Monni reconstructs the stages of this journey, the result of constant, pressing work, where fantastic events are rooted in history. A strange abduction is the origin of the journey that starts in Cagliari and lands in Algiers.
But upon arrival, something surprising happens to the protagonists. In this rich and exciting novel, which stages battles and intrigue, adventures by sea and court plots, Graziella Monni recounts the meeting and clash of two worlds and two religions. Jacopo and Violante,the protagonists, like Romeo and Juliet, with their love story are at the center of a memorable fresco, in a coruscating Sardinian 16th century. And the reading flows swiftly, galloping, like the waves of the Mediterranean cradle of civilization and rollicking affairs. The same passion is clearly visible in the words of Monni, who does not want to leave readers with an essay but rather a novel that winds its way from Caller to Nuralba, from Alghero to Posada, where a piece of our island’s history is built. As Elias Vacca himself pointed out later, it takes a lot of study to be able to shape a historical novel of this kind. “Study and ask yourself a lot of questions,” reiterated Monnni, in order to enter the lived experience of our fathers and know the challenges, the territorial dynamics, the stories within the stories. Recall that Monni was a finalist in the 13th edition of the Calvino Prize with a novel that has remained unpublished.
The second star of the Genera Festival is GianMaria Volpato, a very young singer-songwriter who came second in the 2022 edition of Xfactor, winner of Sanremo Giovani 2023, and has several hits that are much loved by young people. He has written an interesting book “Stagno,” Mondadori editore, where he tells the truly original story of a 17-year-old boy. We will have a chance to talk with the author and find out what it means to be an outsider, an alien of an often immobile and unchanging reality . It is a rough, dirty, edgy novel, full of lucid and unnerving irony. It is Italo’s story, a strong, sensitive, biting tale. To be a first release and to be the fruit of such a young mind, it would not be far-fetched to call it a talent.
