E’ un racconto che brucia la pelle, che grida il proprio disagio in un mondo troppo complicato. “Stagno” è il primo libro scritto dal giovanissimo GianMaria Volpato, in arte gIANMARIA , volutamente con la g minuscola. Genera Festival ha voluto fortemente il nome di Volpato tra gli autori di questa edizione: perché il Festival nasce per i ragazzi, per quel moto continuo della “generatività” che loro conservano nella loro mente e nel loro cuore e che deve essere stimolato a venire fuori. Nella splendida location di Villa Mosca ad Alghero e nella storica piazza del comune a Ittiri, accolto dal sindaco Antonio Sau, si sono svolte due serate dedicate ad un giovanissimo autore, che scrive, scrive voracemente le atomiche esplosioni della sua anima. Il suo libro “Stagno”, presentato da GianPaolo Cassitta, direttore artistico del Festival Genera, è un “racconto che brucia”, così è stato definito dalla critica letteraria. Perché brucia così tanto? Perché GianMaria Volpato ha avuto il coraggio di scavare all’interno dei suoi pensieri, affrontare i momenti bui e chiedersi cosa significa crescere, diventare adulti e capire dove si vuole arrivare. E lo ha fatto a soli 21 anni.
“Stagno” è la storia di Italo, un diciassettenne cresciuto in una sconosciuta e pigra provincia insieme alla madre, Stefania, una bella donna di mezz’età che gestisce un centro estetico e che, durante l’infanzia del figlio, lo ha trascinato da un concorso di bellezza all’altro. Perché è bello, Italo, ma non se ne cura minimamente. È un tipo sensibile, solitario e attento ai dettagli del mondo che lo circonda. Ha un solo amico, Patrick, totalmente diverso da lui, ma capace di mostrargli un affetto sincero. Così, tra corse in bicicletta che tagliano le campagne afose di inizio agosto, tra le visite domenicali alle prostitute dell’autolavaggio di via Watt, le feste di compleanno popolate dalle amiche ubriache e disperate della madre e le commemorazioni per la vittima di un orrendo crimine compiuto quarant’anni prima, si sviluppa la storia di Italo.
Dal palco di X factor ai libri. Dallo scrivere canzoni ai romanzi: un passaggio fondamentale per Volpato che trova nel romanzo tutta la libertà di esprimersi senza regole, senza metrica, e senza limiti di pagine.” “Se dovessi descrivere in musica il mio libro- ha spiegato gIANMARIA- sarebbe un urlo che riecheggia in una strada deserta”. Al suo modo serafico di parlare corrisponde una graffiante, cruda rappresentazione della vita, quella vita per la quale “ a volte non siamo adatti”, e che nei suoi testi esplode con tutta l’emotivita’ e la forza espressiva di un vero, seppure giovanissimo, cantautore. Un cantautore che crede nell’intelligenza emotiva della generazione Zeta e sta provando a condividere con la scrittura e la musica, le controversie le salite e le discese dei giovani come lui.
Domani Genera Festival affronterà un altro tema di grande impatto sociale. Lo farà a Stintino alle “Vele di Pietra” con inizio alle 21 00, con Andrea Rustichelli, giornalista Rai, che presenterà il suo libro “Senza biglietto. Viaggio nella carrozza 048(Merlin editore). Sarà poi ad Alghero il giorno dopo il 20 luglio a Villa Mosca sempre con inizio alle 21 00. L’autore ci guiderà in un racconto reportage all’interno di un mondo separato, nascosto: quello degli ammalati di cancro. Lui, che ha affrontato la malattia, ci trasporta all’interno di quei reparti ospedalieri dove si rischia di smarrirsi nel silenzio e nell’impotenza. Senza Biglietto. Viaggio nella carrozza 048, Merlin editore, è un libro che riesce a generare resilienza e aiuta ad affrontare il futuro.

“Stagno” is the story of Italo, a seventeen-year-old who grew up in an unknown and lazy province together with his mother, Stefania, a beautiful middle-aged woman who runs a beauty center and who, during her son’s childhood, dragged him from one beauty pageant to another. Because he’s handsome, Italo, but he doesn’t care in the slightest. He is a sensitive type, solitary and attentive to the details of the world around him. He has only one friend, Patrick, totally different from him, but capable of showing him sincere affection. Thus, between bicycle rides that cut through the sultry countryside of early August, between Sunday visits to the prostitutes at the car wash in Via Watt, the birthday parties populated by the mother’s drunk and desperate friends and the commemorations for the victim of a horrendous crime completed forty years earlier, the story of Italo develops.
From the X factor stage to books. From writing songs to novels: a fundamental step for Volpato who finds in the novel all the freedom to express himself without rules, without metrics, and without page limits.” “If I had to describe my book in music – explained GIANMARIA – it would be a scream that echoes in a deserted street”.
